Bring your body alive through movement, breathing and discovering inner balance – this is the essence of yoga. Through practising yoga asanas (postures) you can bring your body and breath together to cultivate a deep sense of focus and calm. In this way, yoga can become a foundation for deepening your meditation practice. On this yoga and meditation retreat we’ll take you through routines that can be used by themselves or as part of a larger practice of meditation.
In all retreats we explore practices that are useful in both the retreat situation and in everyday life. We aim to teach in a way that allows you to apply the experiences and understanding of meditation throughout your life.

Enjoy the garden outside the dining room and teaching hall
- Guidance throughout each day in retreat. There are normally 4–5 guided meditation sessions per day in retreat.
- Comprehensive theory classes. On top of the sessions listed above, we provide 1–2 theory classes per day in retreat.
- Retreat handout with a summary of the theory being presented.
- Gentle Stretch and Breathe sessions – normally 1 per day.
- All meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner; includes snacks in between meals. We serve delicious, fresh, healthy, mostly vegetarian food. (If you have any special food requirements, eg gluten-free, lactose intolerance etc, please bring any additional items you may need; soy milk is provided.)
- All accommodation at Tara Hills Retreat Centre - choose from either an ensuite room (single or double) or a standard single room (with optional linen service).
- Highly qualified teachers are on every retreat - you can check your meditation experiences and get some guidance during the retreat.

There are 10 Standard single rooms. Each room has a good quality single bed, storage cupboard, plus a heater and fan. The building is very well insulated, and is pleasant throughout the year. Our new architecturally designed accommodation building, in use from June 2015, features four rooms (either single or double) all with lovely north facing views across the valley and their own en suite facilities.

What experience do I need?
No prior meditation or retreat experience is required to attend this retreat. You will be guided by a team of experienced teachers who can help answer any questions that may arise during the retreat. All meditation sessions are guided and there is a theory class each day to support the understanding of the practical sessions.
What do I need to bring?
When you book into a retreat we'll send you a map of directions to Tara Hills and a summary of what to bring (in short: if you are staying in an Ensuite room or a Standard room with linen service, then you just need to bring some comfortable clothing and toiletries. If you are staying in a Standard room with no linen service then please bring bedding as well). Everything else is provided. When you book into a retreat we'll send you a map of directions to Tara Hills. It's about a 45 minute drive from Adelaide, just past Nairne in the Adelaide Hills.
