Each piece opens in us the emotions we feel in response to the world of light and water: stillness and peace, shimmering sensuality, power, and gentleness.
Music is a form of meditation and the qualities of light and water form a major focus in the meditation tradition. All of these pieces, in some way or another, evoke light and water by creating the atmosphere of their different effects and the emotions we experience in response. From the clear, cool light of moonlight to the rushing brilliance of a fountain, the sparkle of a sunlit pagoda to the yearning tenderness which can flow through us like a stream, they open in us the feelings which the flowing, luminous world around us evokes.
