& building open hearted connections
6:30 pm Friday 28 October – 2 pm Sunday 30 October
Tara Hills Retreat Centre
Advanced retreat with Dr Graham Williams
While we often yearn for that ‘special’ relationship with another person, all relationships begin at home – with ourselves. How do we see, and feel about ourselves? Are we comfortable in our own skin? Can we nurture ourselves? Or do we look to others to do this for us?
In this retreat we will explore how meditation can be used to help develop healthy relationships.
When we are developing our relationship capacity our shadow needs to be explored: that side of our personality which we are convinced is ‘not us’, and which we want to perfect or get rid of.
You’ll have the opportunity to get to know your own shadow and find ways to reincorporate it into your life – accepting it as a friend rather than seeing it in all the terrible things that ‘others do’. When we reject or ignore our shadow it effects how we see and treat others, and the projections we impose on them.
Meditation provides a unique way to both enrich your sexuality, your relationship with yourself, your partner, and also to develop a truly strong and open-hearted connection with everyone you encounter in your life.
Relationships with those we love and those we would like to love – our sexual relationships in particular – are a wonderful way to explore our deepest desires and emotions in all their complexity.
The meditation tradition is also rich in exercises which enable you to incorporate your sexual or ‘life’ energy consciously into your meditation practice, and so bring your body and mind and your male and female sides together in the bliss of sexual energy and union.
This bliss of union is one of the greatest and strongest experiences a human being can have.
Finally we will consider our relationship with the whole community of humanity and the natural world, of which we are an integral part: how we can engage with our world with an open heart, constructively and ethically.
