Resting in uncertainty & change
2-day meditation retreat
9.30am Saturday 16 October – 4 pm Sunday 17 October
Uncertainty. Risk. Change.
Three fundamentals of life, yet three things none of us want in our life.
Can meditation help? Yes.
In fact, better than helping, it provides tools to skilfully work with the emotions that arise whenever faced with the unknown, with uncertain risks, or simply with change.
Everyone’s life and routines have been upturned over the last 18 months. And it looks like we are in for more of it. Aristotle noted that ‘constant change’ is one of the few things we can be certain of in life.
Our mind is built to know, to understand, to find order in chaos. Our planners and calendars give us a sense of knowing what is going to happen. We look forward to catching up with friends and family, or going on holidays. And suddenly we’ve been faced with our usual certainties upturned, change in almost every breath, routines being abandoned.
Meditation gives powerful approaches for resting in the core of uncertainty, resting with not knowing, and to be able to make use of that time. Rather than trying to avoid it all costs, you can learn to navigate through this time and grow.
This weekend will feature understandings and ideas taken from the meditation tradition, woven together with knowledge of the mind and brain revealed through neuroscience & psychology. And most importantly, you’ll learn practical meditation approaches that you can apply immediately in your life.
You’ll also be completely looked after with plenty of time to slow down and rest deeply, relax and unwind with restorative yoga and enjoy delicious food in the beautiful Lifeflow studio. The retreat will be under the care of experienced Lifeflow Teacher, John Burston.
